Furvana was born from a deep desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of cats and the community of Bayonne. With a growing population of stray and feral cats in need of help, we recognized the importance of providing humane and effective solutions.
Our work focuses on two core goals: reducing the feral cat population through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and finding loving homes for adoptable cats. Each cat we rescue has its own story, and our mission is to offer them a brighter future—whether it’s through TNR or adoption into a caring family.

For adoptable cats, Furvana is about offering a second chance. These cats—whether from the streets, shelters, or homes where they can no longer be cared for—are given a new opportunity to find loving families.
Nicole Welna is the heart and driving force behind Furvana Cat Rescue, where her lifelong passion for animals and dedication to compassionate care shine through in everything she does. Since 2019, Nicole has worked professionally with animals as a trusted dog walker and pet sitter through her business, Happy Tails Loving Care. This experience deepened her understanding of the unique needs of pets and strengthened her commitment to improving the lives of animals.
From an early age, Nicole felt a profound connection to animals, especially those in need, and took it upon herself to give a voice to the voiceless. Her work in animal care and rescue has given her firsthand insight into the challenges faced by stray and feral cats, inspiring her to establish Furvana as a place where these animals can find safety, love, and a chance for a brighter future.
Through her hands-on leadership and unwavering commitment, Nicole demonstrates that every animal has a story worth telling and a life worth saving. Her work with Furvana is a reflection of her broader belief—that by working together, we can create a kinder, more harmonious world for animals and people alike.
